Second Quarter, Fourth Year Quarterly Program Report
Here is the quarterly program report for June 1 - September 1, 2022.
Here is a high level overview of project updates from this quarter:
- The
fifth OER book of the Open RN textbook series, Mental Health and Community Concepts, was published in Pressbooks in August 2022. The affordable
print version is anticipated to be available in college bookstores in
January 2023.
- The
print version of Management and Professional Concepts was printed and
available in college bookstores in August 2022. The free, edited PDF of the print version can be downloaded here.
- Cumulatively
through 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 academic years, 12 WTCS colleges adopted
one or more Open RN textbooks in 286 OER course sections, impacting 3165
students and resulting in student cost savings of $254,642. These numbers
are anticipated to exponentially grow during the 2022-2023 academic year
and beyond now that all five Open RN textbooks have been published.
- In
addition to the WTCS colleges, 44 colleges and universities across the
United States and Canada have adopted Open RN textbooks according to
XanEdu, the publisher of affordable Open RN print versions. These affordable print
versions are sold for approximately 1/3rd of the average similar
commercial textbook cost, resulting in significant cost savings for
students across the country and the PDF of the print versions can be downloaded for free. See the Open RN website for links.
- Google Analytics continues to show broad international usage of the free online Open RN textbooks with over 4.3 million page views by over 1.6 million international users.
