Fourth Quarter, Third Year Performance Monitoring Report

This quarter’s full report is available at this link. Here is a high level overview of project progress this quarter:

  • We reached 2.5 million page views of Open RN e-books by over 910,000 international users.
  • One or more Open RN textbooks have been adopted by 75% of WTCS nursing programs and 20 nursing programs across the country.
  • Open RN textbooks and virtual simulations continue to receive high survey ratings by students and faculty.
  • The Nursing Management and Professional Concepts book received excellent national reviewer feedback and has already been adopted by several colleges this semester. The e-book will be officially published in Pressbooks by April 2022 and the affordable print version will be available in bookstores in August 2022.
  • The Mental Health and Community Concepts book is finishing development and will undergo national review this summer. Additional information regarding peer review will be emailed in May to those who registered on the OpenRN website and indicated interest in being a reviewer.
  • Chippewa Valley Technical College was featured in a Department of Education FAQ document regarding creation of a Nursing Assistant OER textbook with HEERF funding based on existing Open RN processes and workflow. The OER textbook is anticipated to save WTCS students over $650,000 annually and will be ready for use in Fall 2022 courses.
  • We cosponsored a webinar on “Code of Best Practices in Fair Use in OER” with representatives from American University Washington College of Law and plan to continue to collaborate regarding additional professional development opportunities in this important area.
