Affordable print versions of Nursing Pharmacology now available

 


The Open RN team is excited to announce that affordable print versions of the Nursing Pharmacology book are now available on Amazon and in college bookstores in collaboration with XanEdu, the publisher of OpenStax textbooks.

Feel free share this link for the free downloadable pdf with anyone who might be interested in reviewing the book for adoption and/or providing the free pdf file to students for off-line access. This pdf file has been edited so there are fewer pages than the other downloadable versions available in association with the electronic version in Pressbooks, and prints in a nice layout, but otherwise contains the same content as the e-book.  Links to the online activities contained in the e-book are provided within the pdf/printed versions so that students can access them when they have online access.

NCLEX Next Generation: Case Study Questions

NCSBN just released " The NGN Case Study " in their quarterly Next Generation NCLEX News, explaining how Next Generation questions are formatted in association with case studies.  The Open RN project is currently creating similar case studies and critical thinking questions for the Nursing OER Textbooks using H5P.   If you have personally developed similar case studies for your Pharmacology, Skills, Fundamentals, Mental Health or Management  courses that you would be interested in sharing with the Open RN project under CC by 4.0 licensing, please feel free to forward them to Kim Ernstmeyer at kernstmeyer@cvtc.edu. If your case study is selected for use by the Open RN workgroup, your name will be credited in the associated textbook.

New virtual simulation activities - Patient with Heart Failure on a Ventilator and Patient with Chronic Angina

The Open RN team has quickly created 2 new H5P branching scenarios that can be used as "virtual simulation" by instructors trying to find  online learning activities to substitute for clinical. In addition to assigning these as independent learning activities, instructors could also potentially add additional group discussion questions regarding: focused assessments, setting goals and outcome criteria, prioritization of interventions, and evaluation.   Suggested discussion questions are included in the teaching plans below.
